Tradewater is a B Corp mission-based project development company focused on collecting, controlling, and destroying potent non-CO2 greenhouse gases (refrigerants, halons, and methane).
Refrigerants, halons, and methane are much more potent than CO2, with each ton of refrigerant being equivalent to up to 10,200 tons of CO2. Refrigerants include chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and these are broadly used in air conditioning systems for cars, refrigerators and buildings.
Whilst these chemicals were banned from production by the Montreal Protocol in 1987, they are still in global use and/or sitting in warehouses, leaking into the atmosphere.
Through Tradewater, emissions reductions are permanent (the refrigerants are destroyed), additional (would not have happened otherwise), verified (audited by a third party), and meet UN Sustainable Development Goals.
TTP continues to take opportunities and turn them into reality. Without their financial support, over 1,446 tons CO2e of refrigerants would have leaked into the atmosphere. We are honoured to be TTP’s trusted climate partner!

Tradewater
In addition to setting near-term science-based targets, TTP wanted to offset its emissions due to flights. We undertook a comprehensive review of offset schemes to find one that we were confident would reduce emissions. I’m delighted that we have chosen Tradewater – we know that refrigerants have high global warming potential and their destruction by Tradewater will have a measurable impact.
