Veterinary diagnostics
Next-generation diagnostics to improve animal health, disease management, and biosecurity.
Market growth in veterinary diagnostics is creating opportunities for new entrants and established players. Success depends on overcoming technical challenges and meeting the evolving needs of veterinarians. TTP’s track record of developing diagnostic products, both IVD and for animal health, gives confidence that we will deliver innovative and successful solutions.

PuckVx: TTP’s platform for in-house molecular diagnostics
Available now for development and licence. Get in touch now.
The demand for accurate, rapid, and cost-effective in-house analysers in veterinary diagnostics mirrors the trend human healthcare.
PuckVx is a proven diagnostics platform that offers a unique low-risk opportunity to rapidly launch an in-house molecular diagnostic analyser for the veterinary market.
It is a flexible and low-cost platform for automating sample-to-answer molecular diagnostic assays in an easy-to-use desktop device.
PuckVx has already benefitted from considerable R&D investment and has been successfully licensed to development partners preparing for launch in other markets.
It is available for further customisation to meet the needs of the veterinary market and offers the opportunity to rapidly develop an industry-leading veterinary diagnostics platform by working with TTP.
We estimate that the time to trial with PuckVx can be as soon as 12 months. Get in touch for more information.

Commercial value
Platform proven to deliver lab-quality performance and successfully licensed to other development partners preparing for market launch in the human health field.
Ease of translation from lab to PuckVx diagnostic. The platform replicates standard liquid handling from lab protocols inside a disposable cartridge, enabling a simple translation from the lab to your in-house analyser.
Compact, low-cost disposable cartridge with only one moving part. Proven examples are being mass-manufactured for ~$2 per cartridge.

Commercial specification
Cost of cartridge
~$2 (excl. reagents) @ 5M units/year
A high-volume production-line previously set up for Puck cartridges demonstrates that low-cost production can be achieved at scale. The simple construction of the cartridge means that production volumes of 100,000s of parts per year in a simple semi-automated manner.
Cost of instrument
~$3k-$4k @ 5,000 units/year (dependent on spec)
Time to market
Time to trials in as little as 12 months. PuckVx is at an advanced prototype stage as a result of over 10 years and >$30M worth of R&D. Alpha prototypes developed according to your requirements can be designed, built and delivered for testing within 6 months, with beta prototypes supplied and manufacturing transfer taking place shortly after. This enables clinical studies to begin only 12 months after starting development with TTP.

Technical capability
Lab-quality, flexible sample extraction for complex veterinary samples proven to deliver gold-standard sensitivity.
Multiplex detection
A fast thermal-cycling system which completes 40 PCR cycles in < 7 minutes combined with 6-colour real-time fluorescence detection.
Time to result
Sample-to-answer in as little as 15 minutes (assay dependent).
The rapid thermocycling system enables 40 cycles of PCR to be completed in < 7 minutes – approaching the speed limit of most common PCR enzymes.
A magnetic-bead based nucleic acid extraction workflow (lyse-bind-wash-elute) can be completed in < 6 minutes, depending on the sample type and extraction chemistries used.

Sample types
Most fluid samples. PuckVx has been demonstrated with blood, serum, nasal swabs, faecal samples, milk – including canine, equine and bovine animal samples.
The advanced fluidic handling capabilities of PuckVx enable lab-quality nucleic acid extraction workflows to be automated – even with sample types that are normally assumed to be challenging.
