The Artificial Intelligence Special Interest Group is returning with Byte Size, a well-regarded series of compact, technical events designed to spark curiosity and inspire critical thinking.
The first event in the series, Can AI and Safety Go Hand-in-Hand? Engineering Responsible Intelligence at Speed, will focus on a pressing challenge in the field: how to develop AI systems that are not only powerful, but also safe, reliable, and aligned with societal values. As AI technologies evolve rapidly, ensuring their responsible use involves navigating complex technical and ethical terrain. This includes designing appropriate safeguards in both hardware and software, as well as addressing concerns around data governance, ethical principles, and regulatory requirements.
Speakers at the event will offer a range of technical insights into the core question: can the advancement of AI go hand in hand with safety? Covering topics from engineering frameworks to real-world operational challenges, the session will explore how AI can be shaped to meet both performance goals and public expectations.
The discussion will be led by Vidhya Sridhar, TTP’s Head of Autonomy and will provide valuable perspectives for anyone interested in the intersection of artificial intelligence, safety, and societal impact.
