Electrical Engineer

Description

Cellular Origins

Cell therapies have been shown to cure devasting and previously untreatable diseases like cancer by re-programming the patient’s own immune system. Giving more patients access to these life-saving therapies requires a revolution in manufacturing and process automation.

Cellular Origins, a TTP company, is leading this revolution. Our proprietary technology tackles the challenges of large-scale production with an elegant robotic automation system that cuts costs, reduces labour, eliminates human error, and boosts efficiency.

Do you want to join the revolution? We’re rapidly growing the team and are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who is equally excited about our mission.

Electrical Engineer

The Cellular Origins Constellation system is a highly modular factory system that requires a complementary electrical power and communication framework. You’ll take ownership over the full electrical system design process, from requirements capture through to documenting schematics and working with suppliers for manufacturing and commissioning.  You’ll be working within a highly multidisciplinary team to bring our system to life!

You’ll design cutting-edge electrical systems for 1-phase and DC supplies and create innovative control panels for machinery and motor control. You’ll be at the forefront of developing new products and ensuring a seamless transfer from design to production. Additionally, you’ll be key in enhancing safety by designing robust systems for machinery and factory lines.

You’ll generate production-ready electrical schematics and cable schedules, and meticulously maintain documentation for existing products. Lastly, hands-on commissioning and debugging of complex industrial machinery, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently will also be a key part of your role.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a hands-on industrial electrical design role within an engineering or industrial product company
  • Experience of designing, debugging and commissioning complex electromechanical systems
  • Control panel design and layout experience for PLCs / Motor Drives / Power Supplies
  • Familiarity with common industrial communication protocols (e.g. EtherCAT) and their requirements for electrical design
  • Strong CAD skills with electrical design software, such as; Solidworks Electrical, Electra, TraceCAD Electrical or similar
  • Practical experience and knowledge of product and machinery regulatory approvals and standards for Europe (Machinery Directive) and North America (UL508 / CSA22.2).
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards, e.g. IEC61010/60204
  • Knowledge of EMC standards, e.g. IEC 60601-1-2
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication and time management skills, a keen eye for detail, and be able to demonstrate analytical and innovative thinking.  You’re happy to work in a startup environment where you will need to drive requirements and close open decisions.

If you have experience in the following areas, it would be beneficial to your application:

  • Electrical control panel mechanical design using 3D CAD (Solidworks Mechanical 3D preferred)
  • Experience of designing safety systems for machine guarding and hazardous areas
  • Experience in integration of custom electronic PCBs into an industrial system
  • Experience in factory automation industries.

The above list outlines our ideal candidate, but we know some of you may not apply unless you qualify for all requirements. We believe in the power and importance of diversity, both for our community and the success of our business, so please apply if you meet most of our listed capabilities.
