Simulation Lead

Description

Cellular Origins

Cell therapies have been shown to cure devastating diseases like cancer by reprogramming a patient’s own immune system, offering hope where there was none before. Giving more patients access to these life-saving therapies requires a revolution in manufacturing and process automation.

Cellular Origins, a TTP company, is leading this revolution. Our proprietary technology tackles the challenges of large-scale production with an elegant robotic automation system that cuts costs, reduces labor, eliminates human error, and boosts efficiency.

We’re after a Simulation Lead to play a crucial role in advancing our mission.

Simulation Lead

Join Cellular Origins as our Simulation Lead, where you’ll play a pivotal role in architecting, designing, developing, and optimising our robotic Constellation system.

Your deep expertise in simulation coupled with real-world experience and problem-solving mindset will be crucial as you steer us to a highly efficient solution. You’ll be confident taking proven methodologies and apply them to our unique environment.

You’ll collaborate with internal teams, partners and customers to gather vital information. You have a knack for asking the right questions and assessing data critically to ensure the model will be accurate. Your ability to evaluate architectural designs, assess alternative scenarios, and apply optimization techniques will drive our future planning and design decisions.

As a key technical authority, you’ll help shape the strategy of our products and be involved in the end-to-end development of groundbreaking solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of cell therapy manufacturing.

Requirements

We’re designing a solution that spans the technical range from individual components to full factory automation. We’re building the ability to model these systems to support both short-term architectural design work and long-term factory planning and optimisation activities.

  • BSc or MSc degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in the design and development of large-scale manufacturing, automation, or logistics systems
  • Some experience with Operations Research, either through industry experience or academic background
  • Experience with the use of Discrete Event Simulation to represent real-world systems (e.g. Emulate 3D, Simul8, or Anylogic)
  • Experience or knowledge in modelling system behaviour, formulating optimisation models, and using numerical techniques such as mixed-integer linear programming, non-linear optimisation, and generalised disjunctive programming
  • Knowledge of applying dynamic optimisation techniques for numerical or computational methods on problems such as business optimisation, time scheduling, transport routing etc.
  • Understanding of simulation and optimisation techniques (e.g. Monte Carlo simulation, Response Surface Methodology, Markov chain, and Petri-net analysis, etc.)
  • Software development experience, including Python
  • Experience with cost modelling (i.e. Cost of Goods Sold, Capex & Opex estimations)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists and business development
  • Ideally, some experience within the Life Science field

The above list outlines our ideal candidate, but we know some of you may not apply unless you qualify for all requirements. We believe in the power and importance of diversity, both for our community and the success of our business, so please apply if you meet most of our listed capabilities.

Applying to TTP

We’re always recruiting

We never close our applications, because we never stop looking for people to join us. Our internships can be competitive though, so the earlier you apply the better.

We can sponsor working Visas

If you’re a foreign national that meets the Home Office criteria.

There’ll be a couple of stages to your interview

There are two stages to our interview process for graduates, and one stage for interns. For both of those roles, there are usually a number of one-to-one interviews with our consultants. We focus on your technical abilities and consumer awareness and use our interviews to see how you’d fit into TTP.

We hold our interviews at TTP Campus in Melbourn

On the outskirts of Cambridge. The interview process is usually around a couple of hours and it’ll include technical problem-solving style questions.

We’ll cover expenses for your interview

Which includes cost of your return travel to the interview. If you need to stay overnight in Melbourn, let us know in advance and we can organise something.

After the interviews, you’ll hear back from us in a few days

It’ll normally take a few weeks to finish the interviews, but this can sometimes take a little longer depending on how busy we are.

If you fit the criteria, we can cover relocation costs up to £20,000

But before you start, we’ll discuss this together to see if you fit the criteria.
