Electronics Engineering – 6 Month Placement

Are you studying electronics and looking for an internship that allows you to apply your degree practically and work with a variety of different market areas, from healthcare to satellite communications? If so, then our 6-month Electronics placement is the perfect opportunity for you!

Electronics engineering is an crucial skill set utilised in most of the projects we undertake, so you could find yourself working on anything from biosensing devices to drones and autonomous technologies.

TTP is an independent technology consulting company where scientists and engineers collaborate to invent, design and develop new products and technologies. As TTP is a multi-disciplinary environment, you will work alongside talented people from a wide range of academic backgrounds – from biologists to engineers to physicists – getting to learn from them, whilst also making your own mark on projects.

This internship presents the opportunity to join us for six months, working alongside our consultants and gaining an insight into life within a technical consultancy. You will contribute to exciting live client projects as well as internal TTP initiatives, gaining hands-on, practical experience and learning more about what a career in innovative technology and product development can offer.

We are looking for students ready to create their own opportunities within TTP. You will be encouraged to participate in all areas of the work we do, including time in the lab, joining team meetings and interacting with our clients; experiencing the day-to-day reality of a career with one of Europe’s leading technology companies.

Requirements

When considering applications, we are looking for individuals with the following traits:

  • Studying towards a 2.1 degree in Electronics Engineering (other engineering degrees where electronics was taught also considered)
  • Must have completed at least 2 years of study by the time of the start of your internship (so students at the beginning of second year are very welcome to apply)
  • Demonstration of a good grasp of the fundamentals of Electronics and the ability to apply these to understanding and developing new technology.
  • Enthusiastic and curious in nature. We look for people who love to learn and get to the heart of a problem – and who do so enthusiastically!
  • Evidence of practical applications of your degree knowledge, whether through extracurriculars, home-projects or internships.

There’ll be a couple of stages to your interview

There are two stages to our interview process for graduates, and one stage for interns. For both of those roles, there are usually a number of one-to-one interviews with our consultants. We focus on your technical abilities and consumer awareness and use our interviews to see how you’d fit into TTP.

We hold our interviews at TTP Campus in Melbourn

On the outskirts of Cambridge. The interview process is usually around a couple of hours and it’ll include technical problem-solving style questions.

We’ll cover expenses for your interview

Which includes cost of your return travel to the interview. If you need to stay overnight in Melbourn, let us know in advance and we can organise something.

After the interviews, you’ll hear back from us in a few days

It’ll normally take a few weeks to finish the interviews, but this can sometimes take a little longer depending on how busy we are.

Relocation support

Available for new employees moving house as a result of their employment at TTP, subject to certain criteria. E.g. your previous home is in excess of a 40-mile radius of TTP offices and your new home is considerably closer.
